In order to be your best for others you must first take care of yourself; this was the underlying message of Dr. Ana Bondars talk at this years Compassion Fatigue Seminar.
For the 6th year in a row, Gluckstein Personal Injury Lawyers LLP was pleased to present our annual Compassion Fatigue Seminar. This years seminar took place on October 21, 2011 at the St. Andrews Club in downtown Toronto. We are also excited to note that this years conference was a sold out affair!
Seminar attendees were fortunate to spend the day with Dr. Ana Bondar. Dr. Bondar is a clinical psychologist who focuses her practice on individuals dealing with the aftermath of personal injury accidents. The theme of her workshop was The Power of Mindfulness. Dr. Bondar led conference attendees through a day long workshop which focused on identifying signs of compassion fatigue and providing them with tools to recognize and combat caregiver burnout. By discussing and defining the nature of compassion as a concept she encouraged attendees to reflect and assess their own practices as caregivers; only after gaining an understanding the concept of compassion can one learn how to best embody it in their work. Her workshop also gave attendees the tools to help develop a balance between compassion for clients and loved ones and compassion for self.
The ultimate goal of the strategies she taught is to allow the caregiver to be at their best, for themselves, their family, their friends and the people they serve on a day to day basis.
We are very much looking forward to next years conference and we hope that you will join us at this always inspiring event.
