Ontario Indigenous Future Leaders Scholarship

Gluckstein Lawyers is pleased to advise that our firm is preparing a scholarship program for secondary school students to assist with payment of post-secondary education in the amount of $1,200.00.

We are committed to working within our communities to promote and enable significant and equitable access for all to education and opportunity.

Our aim in offering this scholarship is to provide support to Indigenous students intending to pursue post-secondary education (college or university).

This scholarship program will be open to all Indigenous students in Ontario who are presently enrolled full time in a secondary school program.

The candidates for this scholarship must hold Indigenous Status and be a secondary school student intending to begin university/college the following academic year.

The application process to be eligible for this scholarship includes the following:

  1. Full time registration and attendance in a secondary school program in the 2023/2024 academic year;
  2. Indigenous Status in accordance with the federal laws of Canada;
  3. Proof of age (candidates must be 21 years of age or younger);
  4. Detailed listing of extra-curricular and community activities engaged in during their time in secondary school;
  5. Preparation of a 1500 word or less essay to describe the academic future which the student wishes to engage and why the student believes that they should be considered for this scholarship; and
  6. Written reference letter from a teacher/guidance counsellor or principal of the secondary school at which the candidate attends.

The deadline to submit applications for this scholarship is April 30, 2024.

Resilient Futures Scholarship: Empowering Foster Care Alumni Pursuing Post-Secondary Education

Jellinek Ellis Gluckstein is overjoyed to announce that our Resilient Futures Scholarship is now accepting applications.

The Resilient Futures Scholarship is given to a student entering a post secondary institution who has spent time in a foster home environment.

This student has overcome many obstacles and has shown resilience in the face of adversity. Focused on their future, this student is committed to creating new paths and opportunities and is excited about what lies ahead of them as they begin their post secondary journey.

Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

This scholarship is open to all students, 21 years of age or younger, who have spent time in a foster home environment. Candidates for this scholarship must be presently enrolled full time in a secondary school program, with the intention to begin post-secondary school (college or university) the following academic year.

Requirements of the scholarship include:

  • Full-time registration and attendance in a secondary school program in 2023/2024.
  • Proof of age (candidates must be 21 years of age or younger).
  • A detailed listing of extra-curricular and community activities engaged in during their time in secondary school.
  • Preparation of a 1500 word or less essay describing the academic future the student wishes to engage in and why the student believes they should be considered for this scholarship; and
  • A written reference letter from a teacher, guidance counsellor or principal of the secondary school the applicant currently attends.

The deadline for applications to be submitted is April 30, 2024, with the recipient of the $1,200.00 scholarship being contacted no later than June 14, 2024.

Community Champions Scholarship: Honoring Student Volunteers in Barrie and Simcoe County

Rastin Gluckstein Lawyers is excited to offer the Community Champions Scholarship to recognize students who have made a contribution to their community through their volunteerism or acts of giving back to the Barrie and Simcoe County communities.

The team at Rastin Gluckstein Lawyers wants to acknowledge a special student who has helped their community.

As lawyers, it is our job to help our neighbours in need. Sometimes, it can be hard to identify how to actually help people who need it the most, so we created this scholarship to celebrate an individual who has taken actionable steps towards helping their community.

Our firm is offering this $1,200 scholarship to students who are applying to a post-secondary program. 

Please note: Employees of Rastin Gluckstein Lawyers, their immediate families, and any person living in the same household of such individuals (whether related or not), are not eligible to apply for the scholarship. 

Application Requirements:

  • Applicants must submit a 750-1500 word response to the prompt: Discuss the ways in which you have given back to your community and what inspired you to do so.  
  • Applicants must submit a written reference letter from a teacher/guidance counsellor or principal of the secondary school at which the candidate attends. 
  • Applicants must also provide a list of community groups, service clubs, or volunteer groups in their community at which they volunteer.

The deadline to submit applications for this scholarship is April 30, 2024, with the recipient being contacted no later than June 14, 2024.

Persian Student Empowerment Scholarship: Support for Those Affected by the Ukrainian Airlines Tragedy

Gluckstein Lawyers is pleased to advise that our firm is preparing a scholarship program for secondary school students in the Persian community to assist with the cost of post-secondary education in the amount of $1,200.00.

Our aim in offering this scholarship is to provide support to a student in the Persian community whose family has been impacted by the Ukrainian Airlines tragedy.

This scholarship program will be open to all Persian students who meet the above criteria, are currently residing in Ontario, and who are presently enrolled full time in a secondary school program.

The application process to be eligible for this scholarship includes the following:

  1. Full time registration and attendance in a secondary school program in the 2023/2024 academic year;
  2. Proof of age (candidates must be 21 years of age or younger);
  3. Detailed listing of extra-curricular and community activities engaged in during their time in secondary school;
  4. Preparation of a 1500 word or less essay to describe the academic future which the student wishes to engage and why the student believes that they should be considered for this scholarship; and
  5. Written reference letter from a teacher/guidance counsellor or principal of the secondary school at which the candidate attends.
