BIAPH was founded in 1986 by parents, spouses and services providers of individuals suffering the effects of a brain injury. The association is made up of a volunteer board of directors. BIAPH is affiliated with the Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA).
Sandev Purewal is also Chair of Peel Region's "Helmet's on Kid's" program, a project which donates bicycle helmets, promotes education and promotes proper bicycle helmet use.
