About Helmets on Kids
The Helmets on Kids Community Partnership was established by Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) in 2002. This initiative was launched to bring awareness to the importance of children wearing helmets.
It has grown into a fantastic project that donates bicycle helmets and promotes education while bringing continued awareness to proper bicycle helmet use. To date, the Helmets on Kids initiative has distributed more than 15,000 helmets to students. The goal is to put a helmet on the head of every child who needs one.
Today, the Helmets on Kids Program is run by the Brain Injury Association of Peel and Halton Region (BIAPH), an association founded in 1986 by parents, spouses and service providers of individuals suffering from the effects of a brain injury. BIAPH is a child agency of the Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA) with many sister agencies across Ontario.
Sandev Purewal has volunteered for various positions with BIAPH. Since 2007 to present day, he has been Chair for Peel Helmets on Kids Project. He has also been a Past-President for the Brain Injury Association of Peel & Halton (BIAPH) from 2010 to 2013 as well as a Director, Brain Injury Association of Peel & Halton (BIAPH), from 2007 to 2009.
