On Wednesday, February 27, 2013, Brain Injury Services, Step Up! Hosted the 2013 Conference I Think, Therefore I Am at The Grand Olympia in Stoney Creek (Hamilton).Gluckstein Personal Injury Lawyers had the opportunity to attend the conference as a Gold Level Sponsor and Exhibitor.

Despite the weather, there was perfect attendance for the following presenters:

  1. Dr. Velikonja (Registered Neuropsychologist) discussed the topic of Neuropsychological Assessment Integrated into Rehabilitation and made a special mention of the benefits of aerobic exercise for brain health.
  1. Julie Entwistle (Occupational Therapist) and Tamara Forbes (Kinesiologist, Case Manager) presented on the topic - How Is Your Executive Functioning? the role of stress, sleep, nutrition on the executive functioning. Their message consider all of these factors before launching a rehabilitative program.
  1. Rebecca Bullock (Speech-Language Pathologist) discussed Implementing Functional Communication Plans. Ms. Bullock utilized a unique presentation style by having conference attendees answer questions via text message. The results were then presented live.
  1. 4. Dr. Bruce Linder (Psychologist, Clinical Director of Brain Injury Services) discussed The Effectiveness of Teaching Functional Skills to Adults with Acquired Brain Injuries with Principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis. Dr Linder shared the stage with 4 different groups (employees of Brain Injury Services and students from McMaster University) who each presented a Case Study on a recent client which proved the effectiveness of the Applied Behaviour Analysis. Each group showcased video footage of the clients progression with the above noted techniques.

Following the conference, Gluckstein Personal Injury Lawyers hosted a Happy Hour at The Express Restaurant in Hamilton which is known for its rustic stone base wood fire pizza oven!

Friends and colleagues gathered at the local Express Restaurant to relax, share our personal stories, and enjoy the company.
